FAQs

  • These lessons are made for English speakers and expats who want to learn French simply and practically — at their own pace, with clear explanations in English.

  • Each lesson follows the same structure: vocabulary, dialogue, grammar, exercises, and cultural notes — all explained in English for easy understanding.

  • Repeat the dialogues aloud, review vocabulary daily, and try to use what you learn in real life — at work, in shops, or with French friends.

  • In French, both verbs are very common, but they’re used differently:

    • ÊTRE means to be. It’s used to describe who you are or how you feel.
👉 Je suis étudiant. (I am a student.)
👉 Elle est heureuse. (She is happy.)

    • AVOIR means to have. It’s used to talk about what you have or certain physical states.
      👉 J’ai un frère. (I have a brother.)
      👉 J’ai faim. (I am hungry — literally “I have hunger.”)

    💡 Tip for English speakers:
French sometimes uses avoir where English uses to be.
    For example:

    “I am 30 years old” → J’ai 30 ans (I have 30 years).
